Gmail and Champlain Outlook Web Access
For all of you Beava Lovers out there who also happen to be Google Lovers, I thought I’d take a minute to write a quick post on setting up your Gmail account to retrieve your Champlain email. Since the recent conversion to Outlook Web Access, you may have forgotten about your Champlain emails like I did. I had my Gmail account set up to sync with the old Champlain mail server settings. The entire summer slipped by while my messages were piling up without even knowing it. Today it was time to fix that.
Very very sneaky…
The mail server isn’t prominently displayed when you launch webmail through the my.champlain.edu portal. However, a quick packet sniffing will turn up the needed information. As far as the port is concerned, a trial and error with the few options listed by Gmail will turn up at least one success.
So here it is:
At your Gmail inbox, click “settings” at the top right. Click on the “accounts” tab. Add or edit your account using the following information:
Username: everything before the “@” in your Champlain Mymail address.
Password: the same password you use to login to the My Champlain dashboard.
Mail Server: webmail.champlain.edu
Port: 995
Check “Always use a secure connection”
Take a look at the screenshot if it isn’t clear. Leave a comment or send me a message on Twitter if you’re having trouble and I’ll be glad to help out.
